What does 'cancellation cover' protect you against?
If you or your event organiser has to cancel your event, it covers you for any deposits or costs that you can't recover. But the reason for cancelling does have to be an insurable one listed in your policy. For instance, insurable reasons include event staff not appearing because of adverse weather conditions, or the non-appearance of caterers, speakers, musicians and so on (if no suitable replacement is available). Your cancellation cover also covers any costs involved in you having to rearrange the event elsewhere, if your original venue can't host the event because of insurable reasons. These may include (although it isn't limited to) an outbreak of food poisoning, or defects in the drains or sanitary facilities.
